The Role of SDGs in the Management of Higher Education Institutions for Sustainability By Wannarasmi Chanthakut The United Nations member states have agreed to work towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to improve society, the economy, and the environment by 2030. This includes 17 development goals covering five areas: Social, Economic, Environmental, Peace and Institutions, and Partnership. Education plays a crucial role in achieving the social development goals, especially in ensuring equal access to quality education for all. In Thailand, education is seen as the primary mechanism for leading the country to stability and sustainable prosperity. The United Nations has set goals to end poverty, hunger, promote good health, ensure quality education, achieve gender equality, provide clean water and sanitation, and ensure access to clean energy and decent work.
